** GENERAL STAFF ENTERPRISE BARGAINING UP-DATE
**
At the General Staff Enterprise
Bargaining meeting held on Wednesday 6 April
between the University and the NTEU, the following
issues were discussed:
1.UNE tabled the Managing Change
consultation draft and the parties discussed some
amendments.
2.UNE tabled the Grievance &
Dispute Resolution Procedures and it was agreed
that UNE would do a redraft to include several
amendments and they would also do a preamble on
Grievance Procedures.
3. The parties discussed the 3 hr
minimum in relation to the Casual Rates Clause and
the NTEU advised of some other concerns in this
clause and it was agreed that UNE will do a redraft
for the next meeting.
4. UNE tabled a draft Linking of
Classifications document and it was agreed that the
NTEU would advise of any changes.
5. NTEU tabled a draft Workloads
Clause and the parties had a discussion on this
issue. NTEU advised that they are concerned about
staff being pressured into doing overtime and maybe
something should be added to the clause to prevent
this.
UNE advised that workforce planning
covers these issues and it was agreed that UNE was
to look at the principles of the clause.
6. NTEU tabled a draft Indigenous
Employment clause and advised UNE that basically
this clause is really just a statement to confirm
that UNE is committed and is on the right path.
7. UNE tabled a Draft Salary
Packaging Document and advised that at the moment
it will include childcare, superannuation and
vehicles but more may be added at a later date.
8. The parties discussed the
definitions of the Academic Enterprise Bargaining
and it was agreed that UNE is to supply a copy of
this to the NTEU.
9. NTEU expressed their belief that
Rewarding Excellence is not an EB issue and there
are lots of equity issues involved with it.
