First year subjects are given special emphasis by Academic Mentors drawn from the students and staff of the College and the University. Tutorials are also provided in study skill techniques, essay writing, scientific/mathematic literacy and examination preparation. Members of College are also encouraged to utilise the specific study skills programs provided by the Academic Skills Office at the University.
Every Tuesday night students are encouraged to come to the dining hall for Tues-to-study. It is a very quiet environment with cake available to provide study energy. Academic Mentors and Senior Common Room members are on hand to assist where they can.
Two weeks before exams, and during the exam period a Noise Curfew is enforced to ensure a studious environment is maintained.
Academic Acheivement is rewarded with certificates, bursaries and scholarships and formal dinners throughout the year.
Financial Assistance is available in the form of Bursaries which are awarded to those members of College gaining the best result in each Faculty in both first and later years.
