A Year in the Life of Earle Page College

Page has a busy calendar with a full range of activities, both formal and informal, which can members enjoy. We have listed below just some of the major annual events.

Orientation Week

Many social activities, organised by the Junior Common Room Committee and Resident Fellows, help the first years settle into their new "home away from home". Activities include Aussie Night, Trivia Night, Toga Party, and Bush Dance. You'll also get academic tours, introductory lectures and study assistance. It is a really fun week designed to help you meet people and settle in.

Formal Dinner

Introductory Dinner

Academic awards and prizes are presented by the Vice-Chancellor and the College Master. New students are formally welcomed by the College community and it is the first time that new students get to wear an academic gown.

Ball and Cabaret Ball

Ball is a black tie event. A highlight of Ball each year is a fireworks display, which not only entertains the Ball participants, but also the other colleges and the City of Armidale as the sky lights up. Cabaret Ball is a themed dress-up Ball held in town.

2011 Coast Run

Coast Run

Coast Run is one of Page's biggest annual events. Each year the students raise money for the Children's Medical Research Institute. The students hold an Auction, a Fashion Parade and then a relay-style run from Armidale to Dorrigo (Over 200kms). Each event usually raises around $10,000. It is an extremely rewarding experience for a great cause.

Formal Dinners

Many formal dinners are held to celebrete Earle Page College each year. These include awards nights for sports, academia, and cultural acheivements, Politics Dinner and Parents Dinner. Students wear their formal academic gowns and enjoy nibbles with champagne followed by a gourmet meal together. Many of the awards at these dinners have strong traditions. Not only is high acheivement rewarded at Earle Page College, but involvement is also held in high regard. You don't have to be the best at sports to win the biggest sporting awards.

Awards Dinner

Sports and Cultural Events

Page participates in a range of sporting competitions. Sports include netball, rugby league and union, hockey, soccer, tennis, touch football, waterpolo, athletics, swimming carnivals, lawn bowls, table tennis, basketball and more. Culturally, Page has the Annual Musical, a choir, and usually wins the intercollegiate trophy in the cultural competition. This competition includes Small Music Ensemble, debating, theatre sports, arts and crafts and performance. Page also arranged the inaugural intercollegiate quiz; a trivia night in which all of the colleges competed. It was a huge success!

Annual Musical

Earle Page College is the only UNE college to hold a musical. It is run by the students and helps raise money for Coast Run each year. Singers, dancers, musicians and stage designers all get their chance to shine.
