Name of the year: The Year of simplicity

Why the year was so named: Named after Simon 'Simple' Smith, the College President, who attempted to run the JCR in a 'simplistic' fashion.

Significant events of that year:

  • The Ash Wednesday Bushfires in Victoria for which some Top C freshers did a 'wall sit' on their floor to raise money to send to victims.
  • The College Master, Allan Huggins, organised a deal with a Rental company which allowed all floors to have Televisions in their common rooms.
  • Assistant head, John Nolan, finished his term in the position.
  • The College Rugby club used all the money from the then College Sponsor, the Wicklow Hotel, and as a result the JCR had no funds for functions such as Ball.
  • ABC Newsreader James Dibble was the College Guest.
