College life - Leadership opportunities
“Being in a leadership position helped me to better organise my studies in order for me to properly fulfil the requirements of my position as Resident Fellow. College has given me the opportunity to interact with a large part of the college community. I believe I have grown as a person by training and working closely together with a great Resident Support Team!” – Jessika Kinny (Resident Fellow 2011/2012, Bachelor of Education (Primary), Sydney)
Drummond & Smith College has a variety of leadership opportunities available to students. Every year a selection panel appoints the most suitable students for the position of Senior Resident Fellow, Resident Fellows, Senior Academic Mentor and Academic Mentors. There is also a position available as College Marketing Officer and IT Officer. Most of these leadership positions will benefit from a quality training programme, which will give them skills for the rest of their lives! These students often have a good standing within the College, and are respected by their fellow students. Please, have a look at this year’s team.
The Drummond & Smith Residents Association (DSRA) has a variety of positions available. Every year a general election is held to determine who is most suited for the available positions. Further, every UNE College has Sports and Cultural Representatives who organise all of the annual events. These Reps, too, are nominated and voted for by the College members through an official process. The positions require organisational and interpersonal skills and the position holders are usually upstanding, involved and respected College members. The Reps are responsible for getting all College members involved and enthused with College activities. They are important and respected positions that give students an opportunity to develop useful career skills.
