University Environment

Many students find the university environment very different to what they’re used to and just doesn’t seem to suit them. It may be that:

  • you don’t like the noise and number of people around you in college
  • you feel lonely and are finding it difficult to meet people because you’re living in a house in town
  • you are finding cooking for yourself for the first time difficult
  • it seems that every social activity involves alcohol and you don’t drink
  • no one you meet seems interested in the same sorts of things as you
  • you keep getting lost trying to find your way around campus
  • you’re finding it difficult to settle down to work in the unstructured learning environment
  • you don’t understand the lectures
  • your first language isn’t English and you are having difficulty understanding what people are saying
  • you are having difficulty working your way through the administration that is involved with being a student

so everything just feels too hard and you think you might give up.
