Relationship Reasons
Relationships with family and other significant people can make study seem difficult or impossible at times. If
- someone close to you dies or is critically ill or disabled
- your relationship with a spouse or partner breaks up or is troubled
- your family or the people you live with do not support your studies
- changed circumstances or living arrangements increase your domestic workload
- family circumstances require you to move home
- a partner, ex-partner or family member becomes abusive
- there are large demands on your time and energy from a relationship for some other reason so that you may find that you cannot keep up with your study.
Perhaps you can’t get your assignments done or are getting poor grades for those you submit, so you think you may have to drop out.
Talk it over first
A number of support staff can help you work your way through these problems. They may be able to help you reorganise things so that you can continue with your current enrolment or advise you about the best way to change your enrolment. If you are an off campus student, you may also consider talking with a counsellor in your local area.
Some of the people you can talk to:
Student Assist
English Language & International Services
Oorala Aboriginal Centre
University chaplains
Your Head of Residence or one of the appointed residential leaders in your Residence
