Autumn Festival Parade

Each March the Autumn Festival is held in Armidale. There are many events taking place over the 4 days including the Grand Parade through the streets of Armidale on the Saturday morning. UNE's international students are invited to join others from their home countries and take part in the parade.

Dorrigo Rainforest Trip

Dorrigo Rainforest Trip

At the beginning of Trimester 1 & 2 the Armidale International Association (AIA), in conjunction with UNE International, takes a day trip to the beautiful Dorrigo National Park which is 128km east of Armidale. The trip is open to new students and is a great way to make new friends while experiencing the Australian outdoors. The first stop is Ebor Falls for morning tea before driving to the Dorrigo National Park. Students enjoy a barbecue lunch before taking part in a bushwalk in the amazing rainforest and then take in the views from the skywalk above the rainforest canopy.

Farewell Celebration Ceremony

Farewell Celebration Ceremony

The Farewell Celebration Ceremony is an event held for students due to complete their studies at the end of Trimester 1 & 2, but may be unable to return to Australia for their graduation ceremony. All completing students are invited to attend and wear academic gowns when presented with a certificate of participation by the Chancellor of UNE. Friends and family are invited to attend and morning tea is served after the event.

Farewell Celebration Dinner

At the end of Trimester 1 & 2 UNE International hosts a farewell dinner for students completing their studies at UNE. The night is a great way for students to celebrate the end of their studies at UNE and say goodbye to the friends they have made along the way.

International Orientation Day is organised to provide international students with the specific information needed to help them settle into life in Armidale and studying at UNE. 

International Student Photography Exhibition

2014 UNE International Student Photography Exhibition

The 2014 UNE International Student Photography Exhibition was held in September for UNE international students. This exhibition was supported by the New England Regional Art Museum and provided students with the chance to share their perspectives of life in Armidale with the wider community. A general theme of "Life in Armidale" was allocated and students were invited to interpret this theme in their entries, in any way they chose. Entries were received from a wide cross-section of students from 16 countries. Students chose to address the theme in numerous ways; through landscapes, abstracts or snapshots of students engaging in community activities. Awards and prizes were presented by both a judging panel and the New England Regional Art Museum.

2013 International Student Photography Exhibition

The 2013 UNE International Student Photography Exhibition was held in July for UNE international students. This exhibition was supported by the New England Regional Art Museum and provided students with the chance to share their perspectives of life in Armidale with the wider community. A general theme of "Life in Armidale" was allocated and students were invited to interpret this theme in their entries, in any way they chose. Entries were received from a wide cross-section of students from 11 countries. Students chose to address the theme in numerous ways; through landscapes, abstracts or snapshots of students engaging in community activities. Lifesaver Day

Lifesaver Day

Lifesaver Day is an on-campus fair that showcases all the UNE services, clubs and societies, student associations, local businesses and emergency services. The day is an ideal way for new students to find out more about all the different groups on campus and in their community.

Mayor's Civic Welcome

Mayor's Civic Welcome

Shortly after the start of Trimester 1 the Armidale Dumaresq Council hosts a welcome event at the Armidale Town Hall. All students who have commenced their studies in the last 12 months are invited to attend. Students meet the mayor, have a photo taken with him/her (with their national flag) and receive a certificate making them an honorary citizen of Armidale. Afternoon tea is served after the event.

As one of 5 shortlisted students in the Higher Education section Jambay attended the awards ceremony at the Sydney Opera House on the 10 October 2013.
