The UNE Psychology Clinic provides assessment and therapeutic services for the New England community. The clinic provides a training and research facility for the postgraduate Clinical Psychology Program students, all of whom have provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. All provisional psychologists in the clinic are supervised by registered and experienced clinical psychologists, including Dr Warren Bartik, Dr Bethany Wootton, A/Prof Debra Dunstan, Dr Gavin Clark and Ms Andrea del Pozo de Bolger.

Services offered

The clinic is open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm mid-February to mid-December, except for public holidays. The clinic provides assessment and treatment for a range of psychological problems for children, adolescents, adults and the elderly including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments
  • Cognitive, intellectual and memory assessments
  • Neuropsychological assessments
  • Anger management
  • Anxiety and phobias
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Depression
  • Eating disorders
  • Grief and loss
  • Headache and pain
  • Learning, behavioural and emotional problems in children and adolescents
  • Marital/couples relationship problems
  • Sexual difficulties
  • Trauma/stress

NOTE: The clinic does not provide a crisis management service.

Persons who are experiencing acute or severe episodes associated with depression, suicidality, drug dependence, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, eating disorders or dementia are better referred to other services.

If you or someone you know is suffering an acute or severe condition, please call the 24-hour NSW Mental Health Access Line on 1800 011 511, or present to the Accident and Emergency department of your local hospital.

The UNE Psychology Clinic accepts referrals from medical practitioners, paediatricians, school counsellors, psychologists, mental health clinicians, social workers, psychiatrists, neurologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, dietitians and Community Services. Self-referrals are also accepted. Referrals may also be made by your GP through the Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS) Program.

All referrals to the clinic are strictly confidential.
All consultations are made by appointment only.

* People over the age of 16 years who hold a pension or healthcare card, or are deemed to be a low income earner by their GP, may be eligible for referral through the Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS) Program for 6 free sessions of psychological treatment. For further information, please consult your GP.

Location

The Clinic is located on the Ground Floor of the Tablelands Clinical School, 110 Butler Street near the Armidale Hospital. Parking is available nearby.
