Final tasks

If you choose the reflective practice task as your final NEA piece, you must submit at least eight weeks prior to your intended graduation date.

If you know you are unable to meet this deadline please contact the NEA Program Manager as soon as possible.

Reflective journal or recorded presentation

The purpose of the reflective practice task is for you to reflect upon what you have achieved and learned as a result of extra-curricular participation during the NEA program. Reflecting on your experiences will in turn give you the ability to articulate the skills developed during your time at UNE.

Whichever format you choose to present, you need to address the following questions:

  • How were the UNE Graduate Attributes enhanced through your extra-curricular activities?
  • Have you grown as a person as a result of undertaking extra-curricular activities? If so, how?
  • Would you like to be involved in similar activities after graduation and why? How might this happen?
  • In what ways have the NEA activities helped prepare you for life after university?

Include any other information you feel is relevant about your personal and professional growth while undertaking the New England Award.

Written Journal

A written journal must be no more than 1,000 words and should address the following questions:

There is no set structure for your reflective journal. You may use traditional essay structure if you wish or you may write free flowing journal style.  Feel free to use headings.  If you get stuck contact the NEA Office for help. The NEA Program Manager is willing to assist at any stage, including providing feedback during the drafting of your journal prior to submission. Submit drafts via the New England Award myLearn page.

Video / Audio Presentation

You can respond to the questions outlined above in a video or audio recording. The video should be no longer than 5–8 minutes in length. You might choose to do this all at once or edit shorter clips together over a period of time. Please submit a single file. Format information is available in the NEA myLearn unit.

Interview

If you choose the interview option for your final piece you will need to upload your CV through the New England Award myLearn site  by the last day of your last trimester of study.

Your interview will be scheduled (using teleconference technology for non-Armidale students) when your CV is received through this process.

Details about the interview process are in the NEA myLearn unit.
