Driving time from Sydney or Brisbane is around 5.5 to 6.5 hours (depending on your route) and less than 3 hours from the coast. Regional Express provides three services a day from Sydney to Armidale, from as little as $104 one way.
Fly Corporate now flys 12 times per week between Brisbane and Armidale, from $149 one way.
Countrylink provides discounts on rail travel to Armidale. You can expect pay around $100 return from Sydney with your discount. The Countrylink service includes the Central Coast, Newcastle, Muswellbrook, Singleton and Tamworth.

Coach fares are available with Greyhound Pioneer for travel between Sydney and Brisbane (via Toowoomba).
