Unit Description

This is an individual independent study unit designed to encourage the reflective analysis of live performance, either on campus, professionally, or community-based. Students will devise and propose projects requiring 120 hours of study, including research, rehearsal, performance, reflection and analysis, and will complete the project under the supervision of a member of staff. Students wishing to enrol in this unit should be aware that they will need to prepare a detailed proposal and have it approved.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. better understand the connections between theory and performance;
  2. write more reflectively and analytically about performance and theoretical issues;
  3. enhance and enrich their performance practice through independent reading, research and reflection;
  4. work more independently as performers and researchers; and
  5. approach Honours and postgraduate study with a stronger skills base in theory and performance practice.
