Unit Description

This unit provides a consolidation of written, oral, reading comprehenson and communication skills in Spanish, in order to achieve an intermediate level of proficiency. This will provide a broad linguistic base for the study of Spanish and Latin American culture, literature and civilisation.

Materials Textbook information will be displayed approximately 8 weeks prior to the commencement of the teaching period. Please note that textbook requirements may vary from one teaching period to the next.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. participate in discussions in Spanish, including with native speakers, covering a range of social, cultural and historical issues and their Hispanic context;
  2. demonstrate an understanding of essential grammatical structures and their application in more complex situations; and
  3. demonstrate a good level of competence and confidence in understanding and interpreting spoken Spanish in a variety of registers and forms, whether presented directly in conversation or from recorded or audio-visual material.
