Knowledge of a Discipline
The unit covers a wide area in understanding the various dimensions of the theory and practice of globalisation, development policy and management. It is taught in lectures, study notes and readings, practised in class and on the online discussion board and assessed via the essay and the exam.

The unit emphasises abilities in research, analysis, interpretation and exposition. These are the basis of assessment in the unit. Communication skills are taught and assessed through each assessment task.

The unit deals with the developing countries and in the context of global changes. It also emphasises the comparative method according to which similarities and differences among developing countries can be appreciated. This is an assessable component of the assessment tasks.
