Unit Description

This unit provides students with an overview of the more frequent presentations of maladaptive behaviour in humans. The variety of causal factors associated with the development and maintenance of such behaviour will be examined, and an introduction to the treatment of these disorders is provided.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. survey the principal diagnostic categories of dysfunctional behaviour in adulthood;
  2. explore the impact of psychological dysfunction on the life of the individual;
  3. demonstrate an understanding of the etiology and treatment of psychological disorders.
