Knowledge of a Discipline
Students will demonstrate a command of a detailed body of pharmacological knowledge. Discipline knowledge will be provided online. Lectures, practical classes and workshops will provide students with practical applications of such knowledge. Assessment of discipline knowledge and practical application will be made by an end of semester examination, an essay, practical and workshop reports.

Communication Skills
Students will practise communication skills regularly throughout the semester with compulsory practical report write ups and an essay. Emphasis will be placed on clear writing and utilisation of appropriate electronic communication. Instructions on developing and improving communication skills will be provided in unit information documents and through academic feedback.

Information Literacy
With respect to the knowledge students acquire in this Unit, students will: 1) locate information effectively and efficiently; 2) critically evaluate information and the search process used to obtain the information; and 3) use information to construct new concepts and create new understandings. Development of these attributes will be practised in lectures and practical classes and workshops, and will be assessed in the essay and practical class and workshop write ups.

With respect to the knowledge students learn in this unit, students will: 1) reflect on limitations of current knowledge; 2) identify, evaluate and implement personal learning strategies for lifelong personal and professional development; 3) practise intellectual curiosity, creativity and critical thinking; 4) learn both independently and cooperatively; and 5) learn new skills and apply learning to new and unexpected situations. Students will develop each of the above attributes through exposure to the lecture and practical class activities.

With respect to the knowledge students acquire in this unit, students will: 1) apply logical, critical and creative thinking to a range of problems; 2) identify critical issues in the discipline; and 3) collect, collate and analyse relevant information to assist problem solving. Development of these attributes will be incorporated in lectures and practical classes, and will be practised and assessed in essay, practical class write ups and end of semester exam.
