Unit Description

This unit introduces students to a range of topics in Asian studies such as family, classical states, imperialism, nationalisn and women. In doing so it focusses on the themes of power and conflict. Through an examination of these and other topics students are encouraged to develop a critical attitude toward ethnocentric and orientalist views of Asia.
