| Unit Description |
This is an advanced unit and caters primarily to those students who commenced their Japanese language studies at JAPN201 or higher or equivalent to native speakers of Japanese. Students study various complex written and spoken genres from the Japanese media, journal articles and literary works. In addition to consolidating the last of the 1006 Kyôiku kanji, some of the Jôyô Kanji are also explored. There is a variety of learning activities suitable for both advanced learners of Japanese as a second language as well as native speakers of Japanese. Another aim of the unit is to enhance students' overall communicative competence in Japanese by improving their ability to self-monitor, self-correct and manage conversations, for example. JAPN421 can be taken as part of a post-graduate Diploma or Masters award. |
