| Unit Description |
This unit can be taken simultaneously with JAPN421 or JAPN301 (the latter for those students who achieved HD in JAPN202). Because of the complexity of Japanese script, at this level it is necessary for students to devote intensive study to the skills of reading and writing. Therefore, in JAPN311 students are required to undertake extensive reading in Japanese in a variety of genres (including some authentic texts) and also to complete guided/focussed writing tasks in a variety of simpler and shorter text types. As part of their studies in this unit, students will learn 100-120 new characters from the second half of the 1006 Kyôiku kanji. |
