Unit Description

This Italian unit introduces the literary works of women writers in post-war Italy. The texts studied concentrate on woman's search for self-identity in a modern society. This unit is now available in English to students with no knowledge of the Italian language.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. critically analyse literary texts, showing a greater critical acumen and providing fuller critical apparatus than at 300-level;
  2. demonstrate an advanced knowledge of 20th century Italian literature;
  3. demonstrate an advanced knowledge of the socio-political situation in modern Italy; and
  4. demonstrate a greater understanding of the characteristics of texts by Italian women writers.
