Unit Description

This unit requires a dissertation of approximately 15 000 words on a topic (written in Italian or English), where supervision and library resources are available. Areas of research should be decided in consultation with the coordinator.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. formulate questions pertaining to a particular area of Italian studies;
  2. demonstrate higher order, independent research skills;
  3. demonstrate advanced analytical abilities, in combining a broad range of research materials, often from several media, in order to answer their thesis question;
  4. write up an extended research dissertation, based upon the student's own question and independent research; and
  5. demonstrate an understanding of methodological issues and display a broad knowledge of the areas related to language/literature and research studies.
