Unit Description

This unit acquaints students with the works of the major authors of 14th century Italy - Dante Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca and Giovanni Boccaccio - the founders of the Italian literary tradition.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. critically analyse literary texts;
  2. demonstrate a knowledge of 14th century Italian literature and of the socio-political environment of 14th century Italy; and
  3. demonstrate an enhanced Italian language ability through the reading of 14th century Italian texts.
