Unit Description

This unit introduces the dynamic literary activity of the Italian Renaissance and gives a wide chronological perspective of the literary trends of this period. Students will study the poetry and drama which influenced all later European cultures.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. critically analyse literary texts;
  2. display a knowledge of 15th and 16th Century Italian literature;
  3. demonstrate a knowledge of the socio-political and philosophical situation of Renaissance Italy;
  4. expand his/her Italian language ability through the reading of Renaissance Italian texts.
