Unit Description

This unit will seek to develop advanced students' ability to read and analyse complex issues related to Indonesian culture and society. Students will also develop their ability to conduct independent research. The assessment is based on an independent research project. This unit is recommended to students considering enrolling in the honours programme.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. demonstrate evidence of high level reading skills in Indonesian;
  2. show a sophisticated understanding of Indonesian culture and society, especially in term of the research topic selected;
  3. demonstrate basic essential research skills including information gathering, employing critical thinking in analysing information, making annotated bibliography and constructing a literature review;
  4. develop a research proposal; and
  5. construct a research report.
