Unit Description

This upper intermediate unit builds upon the skills gained in the previous intermediate Indonesian language unit. Further aspects of Indonesian culture and society are introduced such as village and city life, religion and beliefs, Australia-Indonesia relations, etc. Various communicative tasks and activities and grammar remain part of the teaching-learning process.

Materials Textbook information will be displayed approximately 8 weeks prior to the commencement of the teaching period. Please note that textbook requirements may vary from one teaching period to the next.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. develop an increased understanding and empathy for Indonesian people and cultures beyond that already demonstrated in INDN201;
  2. communicate with a higher level (intermediate) of linguistic competence in the four macro skills, ie understanding, speaking, reading, and writing Indonesian, in a variety of everyday contexts and related to themes such as village and city life, religions, and Australia-Indonesia relations, and with a higher level of fluency and grammatical accuracy than already achieved in INDN201;
  3. achieve level 2 of the Australian Second Language Proficiency Rating Scale.
