Unit Description

This is a fieldwork unit for Master of Social Work (Professional Qualifying) candidates comprising 550 hours in a social work related practicum. Practical fieldwork is an integral part of social work education and required by the Australian Association of Social Workers for eligibility. Fieldwork placements provide students with the challenge of working with clients in a range of supervised settings. Students are supervised by an experienced social worker during their practicum where they will be expected to undertake the duties of a social worker and reflect on their practice and the services of the agency. In this second placement, students are expected to perform advanced social work student activities and skills. This unit must be taken as a full time unit over one semester.
