18 February 2013 22 February 2013 Mandatory Ability to enrol in this unit will be removed approx two days prior to the commencement of this mandatory intensive school. The AASW requires that social work students attend a minimum of five days face-to-face on campus during each full time equivalent trimester. Days 1 and 5 of the dates are allocated for travelling to and from the intensive school.

Notes

1. Students will attend the equivalent of a five-day intensive school. Days 1 and 5 of the dates are allocated for travelling to and from the intensive.

2. A Secure Digital (SD) memory card, of at least 8GB, is required for saving video recordings during the intensive school for this unit.

3. If you are currently receiving a scholarship you will need to advise the Scholarship Office that you are undertaking this unit OFF campus. You may need to enrol as ON campus in order to retain your Scholarship.

Unit Description

This is a fieldwork unit for Master of Social Work (Professional Qualifying) candidates comprising 450 hours in a social work related practicum. Practical fieldwork is an integral part of social work education and required by the Australian Association of Social Workers for eligibility. Fieldwork placements provide students with the challenge of working in a range of supervised settings applying theory to social work practice. Students are supervised by a qualified and experienced social worker during their practicum where they will be expected to undertake the duties of a social worker and reflect on their practice and the services of the agency.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
