Unit Description

How do teachers convey an understanding of the past to students and how do they combine this with the development of historical skills? The new National History Curriculum outlines key skills and knowledge to be developed from K-12. This unit addresses these requirements by introducing history as a distinctive form of understanding within the classroom. Students of this unit will develop the way they approach the creation of historical knowledge and examine the ways in which history can be presented with a view to better informing the development of their lesson plans and learning content. The content of this unit is specifically designed to meet the needs of teaching the new Australian National Curriculum in History.
