Unit Description

This unit is designed for students who have passed the first trimester unit in intermediate German; or have equivalent competence and who wish to continue their language studies. Lectures and tutorials are devoted to language extension and consolidation in all four skill areas (reading, listening, speaking and writing). In addition, students are familiarised with German society and culture in their reading.

Materials Textbook information will be displayed approximately 8 weeks prior to the commencement of the teaching period. Please note that textbook requirements may vary from one teaching period to the next.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. read German texts of low to medium complexity;
  2. understand spoken German at a low to medium complexity;
  3. speak German at a low to medium complexity;
  4. write German at a low to medium complexity; and
  5. understand and appreciate aspects of German culture and society.
