Unit Description

The unit consists of two elements. The first is a program of advanced written language work incorporating translation from and into French and free composition in French. The second is the study of a set of canonical literary works spanning several centuries. In addition, students prepare and deliver a speech and answer questions using advanced oral skills.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. translate accurately from and into French at an advanced level;
  2. compose freely in accurate and idiomatic French at an advanced level;
  3. appreciate a variety of French and Francophone literary works and the ability to analyse and describe their qualities at an advanced level.
