Unit Description

This unit involves learning to understand and manipulate the French language through the study of French and/or Francophone texts in a variety of media and cultural contexts.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. demonstrate an understanding of the language of Francophone texts presented in various media;
  2. demonstrate an understanding of, and effectively employ, French vocabulary and structures found in, or appropriate to, a variety of text-types, media and cultural contexts, at intermediate level; and
  3. engage in French with various Francophone texts presented in various media, and with the ideas inherent in them, at intermediate level.

Study of cultural texts will enable students to explore French and Francophone cultures in the language of those cultures and to interact with French speakers on a variety of topics.
