Restrictions FREN150 or students with HSC Beginners (2-Unit Z) French or 2-Unit French or French continuers or 3-Unit French are not permitted to enrol in this unit
Notes

No prior knowledge of the language is assumed. Students with a pass of 70% or better in HSC 2-Unit (Continuers) French or students with 3-Unit French or equivalent level of knowledge should enrol at 200 level. Native speakers should enrol at 200 level or above, after consultation with the Convenor of the discipline.

Unit Description

French Language 1A is a unit intended to take beginners and near beginners in the language to a level of proficiency where they may competently read and understand, and accurately write and speak, elementary French.

Students will be taught to communicate effectively in French by means of a structured approach to grammar acquisition, combined with a focus on communicative aspects of the language. On-campus students will practise in class and be assessed individually. Off-campus students will submit oral tapes for correction and assessment.
