| Unit Description |
This unit exposes students to the scope and nature of engineering and offers a rigorous approach to the solution of engineering problems. Case studies and real-world examples will be used to illustrate the role of the engineer, the type of work involved and the methodologies employed in engineering practice. It focuses on civil/environmental engineering design and problem solving, and more generally covers creative processes, economic, social and environmental issues. It also integrates communication, management, law and ethical aspects, risk analysis and project optimisation. |
