Unit Description

This unit offers an integrated approach to the planning, programming and assessment of all Key Learning Areas in the primary school. It focuses on the skills required to develop valid programs using syllabus documents and implementing cross-curricular perspectives, including technology, literacy, numeracy, environmental and multicultural approaches. Students will be engaged in devising whole school curriculum plans and short teaching programs. This unit articulates with EDUC321 and is linked to professional experience.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. demonstrate understanding of issues involved in whole school planning in specific contexts;
  2. demonstrate understanding of curriculum requirements and outcomes in all the Key Learning Areas of the primary school;
  3. integrate technology and other cross-curricular perspectives into the classroom and curriculum planning;
  4. use curriculum documents to develop coherent, sequential and student-centred programs in practical contexts;
  5. demonstrate understanding of principles underpinning all aspects of curriculum delivery, including programming, assessment and evaluation; and
  6. demonstrate a capacity to work collaboratively in designing and managing appropriate planning strategies to produce desired curriculum products.
