Unit Description

This unit is designed to introduce the students to the theory and practice of effective sports coaching in the context of working with the school-aged child. Students will be introduced to the theoretical foundations that underpin contemporary sports coaching practices including functional anatomy, biomechanics and skill acquisition. Students will then observe and analyse accredited coaches working with school-aged children with a view to understanding more fully how this theory may advance their expectations of the roles and responsibilities of the sports coach.
