Unit Description

This unit provides an extension to the foundation study and involves sufficient preparation for teaching Computing Studies at the senior secondary level. Although particular learning activities are based on the NSW syllabuses, other syllabuses can be used. The structure and content of the syllabuses are analysed during the design of project-based learning activities and selection of suitable strategies and structures for effective learning based on knowing how students understand and learn. Creation of challenging learning environments is emphasised throughout the unit. Mandatory online participation provides opportunities to collaborate with peers. This unit is offered fully online and requires ready access to a computer and the Internet.

  1. apply the structure and content of relevant senior Computing Studies syllabuses,
  2. plan learning based on the way students learn Computing Studies,
  3. justify the selection of suitable strategies to foster learning,

  5. design project-based learning activities; and
  6. create challenging learning environments.
