Students are taught communication skills through written feedback on assignments and practice their communication skills through posting to online the discussion board, wiki and blog. Students learn how to use variety of e-learning tools enabling them to interact with others in a variety of locations around the world. Students will practice using e-learning skills using online discussion boards, wikis and blogs enabling them to communicate globally, asynchronously and synchronously with other students within the unit and others around the world to gather information for all assessment tasks.

Students increase their awareness of the issues that arise when integrating e-learning into the curriculum by being directed to relevant literature and taught how to assess its validity. Students practise discussing relevant literature by posting to online sources requiring feedback by peers. Students are assessed (in all assessment tasks) on their ability to identify relevant literature and on their ability to critically analyse the literature.

Life-Long Learning
When completing learning activities students develop the necessary lifelong skills to be able to research, write and discuss social issues, particularly as they pertain to e-learning. These skills can be transferred to any discipline and will be useful in any teaching with ICT positions. This attribute is assessed in all assessments. In addition, students are taught the skills needed to debate contentious topics and develop their understanding of a topic and practice through group activities using online e-learning tools such as wikis, blogs and discussion boards.

Problem Solving
Students practice their problem solving skills by posting to the online discussion board and wiki and providing feedback to other postings. They are taught how to respond to these postings by assisting to resolve other student?s issues. Students are taught how to provided feedback and resolve issues where required. Students are assessed on their ability to deconstruct all assessment tasks and to integrate theory and literature into their answer. Students have to work out how to address the question and source where the most appropriate material is to answer the question.

Social Responsibility
An understanding of the potential of e-learning for use in the classroom, the required classroom culture and the issues that arise when using information technology is taught to students. Students are taught about their professional responsibilities as a teacher to provide a balanced use of e-learning in the classroom and taught that they have a social responsibility to question and challenge some uses of e-learning. This will be assessed in all assignments, taught and practised through their responses to the assessment tasks or online postings through e-learning tools such as discussion boards, wikis and blogs.

Students practice their teamwork skills through participating in online discussion postings utilising a variety of e-learning tools such as discussion boards, wikis and blogs. They are required to discuss the topics with their fellow students in a thoughtful and respectable manner. Students are assessed in Assignments 1 and 2 on the quality of their collaboration with other students through the online postings to discussion boards or wikis. Students will negotiate, assert their own values and respect the values and contributions of others
