Combined Units ECT303 - Research in Writing
Coordinator(s) Dugald Williamson (dwillia7@une.edu.au)
Unit Description

The unit offers students the opportunity to enhance their skills in research and writing. It looks first at why and how we undertake research in different areas, and provides guidance in accessing resources (print, electronic, Internet). The unit then explores several case studies. Within the guiding framework of these case studies, students are invited to explore, and report on, an issue that interests them. Detailed training and individual feedback are given on the processes of finding and evaluating sources, proposing ideas, using evidence, and communicating the results of research effectively to readers. The case study options includes topics in media, literature, film, theatre and music, and students can make interdisciplinary connections with other areas of interest in, for example, scientific, social, and political fields.
