Unit Description

This unit introduces the science of multimedia signals including images and video. Emphasis is placed on multimedia processing. Topics covered include colour science, image and video compression, imaging and video standards. Selected advanced topics in compression will be studied.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  2. explain the basics of multimedia compression;
