Unit Description

This unit provides students with an introduction to feminist film analysis, and a feminist perspective on a range of mainstream films which represent and/or explore the representation of women. Students will study each film text in relation to a particular issue, and along with a specified piece of theoretical and analytical writing. Some of the films studied are: 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes'; 'Aliens'; 'Vertigo'; 'The Piano'; 'Orlando' and 'Silence of the Lambs'.
