| Notes | Students undertaking CHIN410 in preference to CHIN310 should note that they will be assessed for a higher level of linguistic proficiency. It is designed specifically for students who are native speakers of Chinese, and for advanced learners of Chinese as a foreign language (equivalent to at least four years of formal study and extended periods of residence in a Chinese-speaking environment). |

| Unit Description |
This advanced level unit is for students who have either gained a distinction or above in a full second year of Chinese study, or have completed three years of study or the equivalent. It is also suitable for students who have Chinese-speaking backgrounds. The unit will assist students to develop their Chinese writing ability as well as their familiarity with Chinese written conventions. Chinese and English writing style and conventions will be compared. Through various types of exercises students will learn to write text appropriate for both academic and practical purposes, covering a variety of different styles and genres. |
