Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

formulate research questions pertaining to topics within the area of Chinese language and culture studies;

display higher order, independent research skills;

demonstrate advanced analytical abilities, in combining a broad range of research materials, often from several media, in order to answer their dissertation question;

write up extended research reports in the area of Chinese language and culture studies, based upon independent enquiry;

demonstrate an understanding of the methodological issues and display a broad knowledge of the overall subject area; and
-
competently locate and work with source materials in Chinese.
