Unit Description

This lower intermediate unit consolidates the foundations laid in two previous years of Chinese study or the equivalent. The main focus of the unit is on understanding spoken Chinese, although some work on speaking, and on reading and writing, is also incorporated. By studying many recordings of authentic spoken Chinese on a variety of topics relating to life in a Chinese context, you will expand your vocabulary, review and expand your knowledge of Chinese grammar, and extend your understandings of Chinese culture. By developing your listening skills you will be helped to understand spoken Chinese with greater confidence. You will also improve your proficiency in speaking Chinese while studying this unit.
