Unit Description

The unit will have four components: (1) Literature Review - essay on literature on the dissertation topic; (2) Current issues in human evolution - essay on where the dissertation question fits with previous studies; (3) Data and analysis - methodology review and demonstration of skills by analysis of published data sets; (4) Research presentation - preparation of an oral and poster conference presentation of their research.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. identify clearly an area of academic study, appropriate to postgraduate level work;
  2. work effectively with limited supervision;
  3. demonstrate an advanced understanding of the principal themes in the area of study;
  4. demonstrate advanced abilities in analysis of key themes within the area of study.
  5. show advanced analytical skills in the analysis of different categories of palaeoanthropological data.
