| Overview | The Graduate Diploma in Computer Science is the second award level of a fully articulated program which gives qualified applicants the opportunity for study at three progressive levels: Graduate Certificate in Computer Science, Graduate Diploma in Computer Science; Master of Computer Science. The program comprises 48 credit points and students are able to design their own program of study by selecting units relevant to their interests. The Graduate Diploma is designed to provide further academic and professional training in computer science for those students who wish to increase their knowledge in this area. |

| Entry Requirements | For admission to the Graduate Diploma an applicant must hold a Bachelor degree. Applicants who have other qualifications and relevant professional experience deemed to be relevant preparation for candidature will also be considered. |

| Additional Entry Requirements | A further requirement is a knowledge in the programming language C++ as well as Discrete Mathematics. |

4. Requirements for the Graduate Diploma in Computer Science Click here for a list of available units 4.2. At the discretion of the Course Coordinator, the prescribed course of study may include the unit COMP 595. 4.3. The unit COMP 595 involves a project and a project report. The project topic must be approved in advance by the Course Coordinator on the recommendation of the head of the school. The project may take the form of a design, a management plan, a literature review, or a field or laboratory investigation. 5. Advanced Standing

A student who does not complete the unit COMP 595 within the study program will be awarded the Graduate Diploma at the level of Pass. 7.3. | Career Opportunities | The Graduate Diploma is designed to enable people to upgrade their qualifications. Graduates are qualified for technical positions in business, internet and networking specialists, software solution designers and game programming. |

| Advanced Standing | The maximum advanced standing shall be for units counting 24 credit points which are deemed to be equivalent to units offered by University and approved for course comprising: a. 24 credit points for units completed towards an awarded Graduate Certificate in a relevant area offered by the University; or b. 24 credit points for units completed from another institution and not counted towards an awarded qualification; or c. 12 credit points for units completed towards an awarded qualification from another University; and d. 6 credit points on the basis of considerable professional experience e. advanced standing will not be granted for COMP595. |

| Other Benefits | Concurrent enrolment with the Bachelor of Science: After completion of two years of study (96 credit points) towards the degree of Bachelor of Science, students may enrol concurrently for the Graduate Diploma in Computer Science. The Graduate Diploma will not be awarded until the Bachelor degree has been completed. Articulation from the Graduate Certificate in Computer Science: On completion of the Graduate Certificate, students are able to articulate to the Graduate Diploma. All units counted towards the Graduate Certificate will count towards the Graduate Diploma. Articulation to the Master of Computer Studies: On completion of the Graduate Diploma, students are able to articulate to the Master program with 24 cp of advanced standing for units completed towards the Graduate Diploma. |
