| Overview | The course provides core foundation units essential for any student studying gerontology. Designed for health professionals working in the broad health, ageing, and community services sectors, the certificate provides an introduction to gerontology, dementia and contemporary gerontology issues as well as an understanding of management issues and practices in this field. The units are the core foundation units for the Graduate Diploma and Master in Gerontology providing an opportunity for articulation and continued study in gerontology. |

1. Admission to Candidature
A candidate shall:
(a) hold a degree of a university in health or a related field; or
(b) hold a three year diploma relevant to the award; or
(c) have professional standing and successful professional practice relevant to the award.
2. Course Requirements
2.1. To qualify for Graduate Certificate in Gerontology, a candidate shall pass 24 credit points as specified in Rule 2.2. and 5.
2.2. The course shall comprise all units in Group 1.
3. Period of Candidature
The maximum period of candidature shall be:
(a) one year as a full-time candidate;
(b) two years as a part-time candidate.
