Knowledge of a Discipline
Knowledge of Aboriginal people's involvement in the Arts will be taught through lectures and tutorials. It will be assessed in all three assessments.

Communication Skills
Students will be taught communication skills through written and oral feedback on the assessment tasks. Students will learn valuable communication skills through participation in tutorials, online discussions and course work. Students will be assessed on the style of writing, clarity of writing, expression and development of ideas, and referencing. Students will practise their communication skills through completing the assessment tasks.

Global Perspectives
Students will explore international perspectives on the role of the Arts in social movements. This will be practised in online and tutorial discussions and assessed in the major essay.

Students will be assessed on their ability to use available sources and apply the information provided to the topics presented in unit.

Life-Long Learning
Through completing the assessments, students will be provided with the lifelong learning skills to be able to research, write and discuss issues pertaining to Aboriginal society. These skills can be transferred to any discipline. These attributes will be assessed in all of the assessments.

Problem Solving
Through the assessments (online tests, tutorial paper and essay), students will develop problem solving skills relevant to analysing race relations and Aboriginal people's resilience.

Social Responsibility
Students are taught (through online and tutorial discussions) the social, cultural and ethical implications of the impact of policies on Aborignal people. Students will be encouraged to question and analyse dominant ideas about Australia's social, economic, cultural and political history against the background of Aboriginal people's continued resistence to colonisation.

Team Work
Students will practice their teamwork skills through participating in tutorials, or online discussion postings. They will be required to discuss the weekly topics with their fellow students in a thoughtful and respectful manner (practise).
