Unit Description

This unit deals with the role of information systems in organisations. Information is an important driver of user task. The use of information systems requires an understanding of the principles and concepts relating to the development, management of information and the interaction between people and computers in organisations.

Materials Textbook information will be displayed approximately 8 weeks prior to the commencement of the teaching period. Please note that textbook requirements may vary from one teaching period to the next.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. demonstrate an ability to recognise, describe, analyse in some depth, and plan and design information systems from a business professional's viewpoint;
  2. demonstrate an ability to play an effective part in IS development, IS management and IS use, and more able to communicate effectively with IS and IT professionals; and
  3. demonstrate an understanding of how modern business information technology is adopted and used in organisations.
