Unit Description

This unit provides an intensive study of financial statement analysis, seeking to describe and explain: the regulatory environment; cash flows; ratio analysis; financing liabilities; fixed assets; leases and off balance sheet debt; multinational accounts; derivatives and hedging; adjustments of financial statements; measurement of risk; valuation of firms.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. apply accounting and finance theories and practices to in-depth analyses of companies' financial statements;
  2. understand the concept and calculation of 'free cash flows';
  3. apply free cash flows and other techniques to the valuation of companies; and
  4. carry out a comprehensive analysis of the financial statements of a company of their choice.
