Unit Description

Accounting Information Systems has an integrated approach to all topics providing solid foundations in information technology, business processes, strategic management e-commerce, security and internal control.

Materials Textbook information will be displayed approximately 8 weeks prior to the commencement of the teaching period. Please note that textbook requirements may vary from one teaching period to the next.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. demonstrate familiarity with various AIS and their relationship to the organisation's business processes;
  2. explain the attributes of information and how they are linked to various types of decisions at various organisational levels;
  3. describe and illustrate enterprise systems, the modules that make up such systems and the relationship between the system and organisation goals;
  4. discuss the impact of e-commerce (e-business) on business processes;
  5. develop database management systems and relational databases using SQL; and
  6. explain the internal control processes as applied to business processes.
